Thailand Women's National Volleyball Team
The end of 2007 was a great time for the Thailand Women’s National Team.
They had a good showing at the 14th Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship in September 2007 when they beat Korea, Kazakhstan and Chinese Taipei on their way to claiming third place behind China and eventual winners Japan.
And in their first appearance at the World Cup in Japan, the Thais finished in 10th place with a creditable two wins to their name.
Thailand also finished third in 2001 in the Asian Women’s Volleyball Championship, beating Japan on the way to this fantastic achievement, before their first appearance in the FIVB World Grand Prix in 2002. Since then they have appeared every year in the tournament except 2007.
Another highlight was the fourth-place finish at the 2006 Asian Games in Doha, Qatar.
The Thailand Women's Team was founded in 1979 under the FIVB development plan named "2001 National Team Project."
The team was supported by the Petroleum Authority of Thailand for many years.
The team is now supported by the Thai Beverage Plc.
