Korean National Women's Volleyball Asian Olympic Qualifier participants
The Korea Women's National Team has been characterized by its quick combination play and mental power, but for the last few years the team has been trying to add power and height to follow the worldwide trend in Women's Volleyball.
The results from the last major international tournaments were not satisfactory for Korean Volleyball and its fans.
They finished eighth at 2007 FIVB World Cup, fourth at 2007 Asian Championship, fifth in 2006 Asian Games and 13th at 2006 FIVB World Championship.
For this reason, the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and World Olympic Qualification Tournament in Japan are hoped to be the turning point towards Korea’s resurrection.
Head Coach Jung-Chul Lee took control in 2007 and is now working hard with his players to book a ticket to Beijing.
With more than 10 years of coaching experience in both junior and senior international Women's Volleyball in Korea, the Head Coach is training the Koreans well and the team showed progress at the 14th Asian Women's Volleyball Championship and 2007 World Cup.
Veteran setter Sa-Nee Kim leads the squad. Younger players Youn-Kyoung Kim, Yoo-Na Bae and Youn-Joo Hwang will play a part, while newcomers Hyo-Jin Yang and Hyo-Sook Lim are this year making their debut on the international stage.
