Mexican Contreras led the scorers at European Champions League
MEXICO CITY, Mexico, February 25, 2008.- Ivan Contreras, the stellar member of the Mexican National Team and one of the best players in the world, won the scoring title of the Men’s Indesit European Champions League while participating with the Knack Randstad ROESELARE Team of Belgium.
The native of Tampico scored 128 points in 22 sets played topping the list ahead of Christo Agamez (Panathinaikos Athens/120 points) and Boyan Yordanov (Olympiakos Piraeus/119 points).
Contreras, 33 years-old and 1.96 meters tall, also received the trophy as the Best Spiker of the League with 122 kills.
This is the second scoring title achieved by the former Penn State University star as he also took the trophy as the best scorer in the NORCECA Men’s Qualification Tournament held in Caguas, Puerto Rico early
last month.
