Olympic Torch Relay: Light the Passion share the Dream
Light the Passion Share the Dream is the motto of the 2008 Olympic Torch Relay.
With 212 days to go the Olympic torch has become a focus for many around the world. The relay has not come without its share of drama.
The Olympic torch relay has forced Russia and China to cooperate for the occasion: The Olympic Torch website reports “In a meeting with the Russian side before the signing ceremony, Chen expressed BOCOG's appreciation to the Russian Olympic Committee and the city of St. Petersburg for the latter's acceptance to be a city of the Olympic torch relay.”
In the longest distance ever covered for an Olympic torch relay, the torch is scheduled to travel 137,000 kilometers, don’t know what that is in miles and the entire journey will last 130 days after the Greeks handed it over on March 30th. The highlight of the event is its unprecedented ascent to Mt Everest, the highest peak in the world.
