USA Women's Sitting Team World Championship Roster

Five 2004 Paralympians are on the United States roster for the 2006 Womens Sitting Volleyball World Championships, USA Volleyball announced April 27. The 2004 Paralympians on this years World Championship roster include: Allison Aldrich (Schuyler, Neb.), Lori Daniels (Roanoke, Texas), Kendra Lancaster (Sheridan, Ind.), Brenda Maymon (Sellersburg, Ind.) and Lora Webster (Cave Creek, Ariz.). Lora Webster wins Cosmopolitan Magazines "Fun Fearless Female" Search contest

Webster Wins Cosmopolitan Magazine's "Fun Fearless Female" Search Contest

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Lora Webster, a cancer survivor who has a smile that lights up a room and a bronze medal from the 2004 Paralympic Games, is also a “Fun Fearless Female,” according to Cosmopolitan magazine.

Webster (Cave Creek, Ariz.), one of the stars of the USA Women's National Sitting Volleyball Team, was recently named the winner of Cosmo's "Fun Fearless Female Reader Search" contest (sponsored by Maybelline New York and Garnier).

Looking for Female Volleyball Players Who Like to Write

April's Beach Volleyball Blog where all female volleyball players come tell their stories is actively looking for High School, College, Professional Indoor/ Beach Volleyball, Disabled, Paralympic, Deaf, Sitting Olympians female Volleyball athletes to write, share, comment on and learn regularly from each other's volleyball experiences.

Players will join the most decorated Olympians in the history of the sport who have already written and shared their own stories of the obstacles they overcame in the featured section Volleyball Voices.

Sitting Volleyball Olympian in final four Cosmopolitan Magazine Contest

USA Volleyball reported a little while ago that      

Lora Webster standout Olympian on the Bronze Medal winning USA Sitting Olympic team was picked as a finalist-one of four- in Cosmopolitan Magazine's Fun Fearless Female contest.

That is so frigging cool. I just reported on the Women's Olympic Sitting team just the other day! I want to keep updated about everything they do. This team works just as hard, harder as the standing team does and you never hear anything about them.

You will hear about them here, regularly. Although I just Googled "Fun Fearless Female contest, Cosmopolitan Magazine" and I saw that the following sites ran articles on Lora's story.

Deaflympics and Paralympics

While at the AAF Sports Library I got alot of information about the beach game but I also found out more about the Deaflympics which  I was interested in knowing more about. I didn't know that hearing aids and/or cochlear implants are forbidden during competition. You cannot hear anything whatsoever.

The US Women's Beach Deaf Olympians Women's Team comprised of Tamijo Foronda and Sarah Parker. At the 2005 Deaflympics held in January this year they earned a Bronze Medal.

The Indoor Women's Sitting Olympic Volleyball Team also earned a Bronze Medal in 2004 and comprised of:

Sitting Volleyball is played with athletes sitting on the floor. Apparently every team member has a lower body disability like single or even double amputation or paralysis from polio.

The court is 10 meters by 6 meters (we play on 9 meters by 9 meters) and with a 2-meter attack line.

Here are the differences between the standing and sitting game-first players can block the serve and secondly one butt cheek MUST be in contact with the floor when a person is contacting the ball..
