Omigod...it was hot I mean very hot at 9:30am this morning. We arranged to have some games set up in the morning so that we'd be done by midday.
It was a scorcher. After our first game...thank God Melody brought an umbrella it SAVED the day...I was feeling weak and my body was shaking. I realized that I hadn't eaten enough the night before or this morning to prep me with the energy I was going to need for today. Something told me to pack my protein bars. These bars are produced by the same company whose shakes and vitamins I use everyday to lose weight.
First they taste awesome-both the shakes and the bars. After about 5 minutes rest I stopped shaking but that and the energy drink they kept me going for another 4 matches. AMAZING!!!! I thought I was going to have an energy shortage but I didn't.
But after each game we rested in the shade and I just re charged and seemed to get more energy I LOVE this stuff. Its soooo nutritional ...its scary. If I can play 5 games in this heat and walk off the court not feeling exhausted and ready to drop ..then Im spreading the word and telling everybody about this stuff. I've lost weight with the shakes which Im really excited about.
But what was really cool was that when its THIS hot the first thing that suffers is your focus and concentration. Man I just kept being MORE concentrated on the ball and what our strategy was...the more we played. It was great!
Met a really cool player today named Michal. She and her family including husband and sister and kids (and parents today) come from Bakersfield - which is 2 HOURS away to play and get in some quality games in deep sand. Two HOURS,2 hours now that's dedication. A mom and wife with two kids and an amazing spirit (and one hand which she jokes about) who is willing to drive that way to play...is an incredible example of a dedicated player. We hit it off and I hope to see her this winter when we train. Cool people gorgeous kids.
Getting faster. The weight loss Im starting to feel is a good thing... which is great. Im running down more balls and Im faster. Im trying to see how fast I can get by running the balls down without diving until the last possible moment.
If I dont get there in time then of course I dive but Im trying to increase my speed by sprinting fast enough to get my feet TO the ball without having to dive. This effort you put in running to the ball is worth it becasue you dont have to expend MORE energy getting up after you dive and then having to hit the ball as well.
